38 years after it was decommissioned, the world-famous Grade II* listed Battersea Power Station has welcomed new tenants to the recently completed Switch House West, as part of a £9bn regeneration project, which started back in 2013.

Although other homeowners have already moved into properties adjacent to the power station, such as Circus Village West, this is the first time residents have occupied areas of the power station building itself.

Switch House West is the first part of the development to be completed, but residents are expected to move into other areas of the building including Boiler House and Switch House East in the next few months.

The phenomenal milestone was celebrated with a performance by members of the London Symphony Orchestra and Battersea Power Station’s own community choir, and culminated in a stunning light show which included a ‘welcome home’ message projected on to the front of the building.

What else is coming to the area?

The public areas of this world-famous cultural landmark are due to open to from 2022, with retail, and food and beverage brands fitting out their units in the second half of this year. Tech giant, Apple, meanwhile are set to take over half a million square feet of office space in the next month or so for their new London campus.

While the Northern line extension, which includes two new stations, Battersea Power Station and Nine Elms, is due to open in the autumn, with both stations in Zone 1 and journey times to the West End and the City taking only 15 minutes.
