If you’ve ever wanted to feel like you’re in a Wes Anderson movie, now’s your chance. Because the recently opened 164-room art’otel, located in the Foster + Partners-designed Battersea Roof Gardens, is a riot of colour, unique art and unusual design, making it one of most high-profile hotels in London right now.

A creative space

The playful interiors have been designed by award-winning Spanish artist and interior designer Jaime Hayon and include bespoke furnishing and works of art by Hayon, as well as photographic works by Dutch artist duo Klunderbie. As one of the world’s leading designers, Hayon takes inspiration from Battersea Power Station’s 1930s heritage and includes smooth curves and bold colours throughout.

Enjoy your stay

If you’re staying at art’otel you’ll be please to know the sumptuous colour palette continues from the public areas into the rooms and suites. Expect to see colourful walls painted pink, yellow, orange and blue, funky shaped mirrors and unusual art installations. Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the rooms with natural daylight, with some having views of the river and the Power Station too. Every room comes with sumptuous high thread count linens, a super comfy bed, salon-quality toiletries, complimentary water, and an excellent in-room coffee machine.

Eating and drinking at art’otel

The hotel offers not one but two sumptuous restaurants that are already proving a big draw with the food ‘grammers.

The skyline restaurant JOIA, which is Portuguese for ‘jewel’, is led by chef Henrique Sá Pessoa formerly of the two Michelin-starred Alma in Lisbon. The rooftop bar serves incredible cocktails, such as the tequila and elderflower Safira Rosa, while the restaurant on the 14th floor, decorated in soft pastels and  looking like an Art Deco liner, delivers fantastic views, and offers a taste of the Mediterranean with the best of British and Iberian produce. Enjoy the likes of bacalhau à brás, salted cod, potatoes, parsley, egg and black olives. Or how about dark chocolate mousse served with sherry caramel and chorizo ice cream.

If Italian is more to your taste, try the TOZI Grand Café, which specialises in traditional cicchetti plates and homemade pasta dishes, and also serves afternoon teas and sumptuous brunches.

Outstanding facilities

As well as the art-filled interior, gorgeous rooms and the top-notch eateries and bars, there are plenty of other facilities to enjoy at art’otel. There are six meeting rooms, an in-house art gallery, a spa, offering a range of treatments including massages, facials, manicures, pedicure and waxing, a sauna, steam room, and relaxation room, plus a state-of-the-art gym, which offers personal training.

But it’s the stunning heated rooftop infinity pool, hot tub and bar that cranks up the wow factor. With a 360-degree views of London, the 16th-floor rooftop bar also gives you a close up of the Power Station chimneys. Imagine swimming right up to the edge of the infinity pool, sipping a cocktail and watching the sun go down over this London icon.

“I wanted to create a journey for guests and bring a completely new hotel experience to London, one that blends great comfort with a new vision of contemporary creativity. [It’s] set to become a new hub for art and creativity, bringing something truly special to this iconic location.” Jaime Hayon
