Battersea Power Station has appointed urban design practice Studio Egret West as master planner, urban designer and landscape architect to guide the next phase of development across the riverside neighbourhood.

The appointment will help progress the remaining 16 acres of the 42-acre site, which already has outline planning permission for around 3.2 million square feet of new homes, commercial, cultural and leisure space.

Studio Egret West will evolve the original masterplan created by Rafael Viñoly more than 15 years ago, ensuring the future phases reflect changing expectations around lifestyle, leisure and workspace.

Around half of the regeneration project is now complete. The wider development has already delivered more than 2,200 homes, around 800,000 square feet of office space, a new Zone 1 London Underground station and over 150 shops, restaurants and leisure experiences.

Future phases will also connect to the new Nine Elms Park, a 14-acre green space running from Vauxhall through Nine Elms to the six-acre Power Station Park on the riverfront.

The next stages of development aim to further strengthen Battersea Power Station as one of London’s most vibrant mixed-use riverside neighbourhoods in the heart of Battersea and Nine Elms.
